Almost at our Goal for the Summer....

We are very excited!!!  Our goal of $10M in listings is but one property away and we have made great strides in meeting Agents within Michael Saunders and Company.  We are also initiating an E-Blast Campaign, through our MLS membership, to all areas of Florida with high-value waterfront oriented communities as well as a road show to meet Agents that are also members of Leading Real Estate Companies of the World, locally and on the east coast.  Who said summers were slow?!?!?

We have been told by Michael Saunders management that it is not our job to be Useppa's Chamber of Commerce but we strongly feel that it's the stories of Useppa and it's residents that set Useppa apart from other coastal islands and waterfront developments.  It is impossible to "sell Useppa" without extolling it's virtues, dynamic, beauty and community...especially, the latter.  AND....it is working.  Those that have visited have acted almost dumbstruck....been absolutely amazed....and have even said they didn't want to leave.  It is our belief that the "Magic of Useppa" is being realized by others and will be shared in a very enthusiastic way.  The Director of Marketing spent this last weekend here and left inspired and motivated, with a bunch of new ideas to get the word out.

So, it is happening....but not overnight.  You can help by commenting on this Blog.  Comments add up.....so, say something on this blog!
DRONE OVER USEPPA....

Cool!! We had photographers in last week to take pictures of Castellanos house.  You may know, it is on it's own island and to really show that, we needed aerial shots.  Enter the Drone.  It did not look like we expected it to look.....more like a mosquito or flying spider.

The photographer flew it from the back deck....taking it up to 60-100 feet, then circling the property.  He also took shots of the surrounding area from that height..  Spectacular.

This was taken right at landing.

The photographer absolutely fell in love with the Island, saying his wife would want to buy a place.  As we want/need many more photos, we suggested a trade...a week at our Cottage for photos of everything!!  He said "Yes!!"  Yeah!!

It's those lazy, hazy, rainy days of summer....

....at least, every afternoon!  If it doesn't rain, you can count on it being overcast, cooler (yeah!) and soupy.  Here's a "sunset" from one of those dreary days....

We still have not gotten enough rain.  It spits and spurts...but only occasionally do we get a good downpour.  And, tides have been extreme!  Summer Solstice has come and gone....hate to see those long days start to wither away.  But, what better place than on Useppa....In your Useppa Island Home!!

Look who we just heard from....

It's Donna and the Ligs...and Peggy in Florence, Italy.  It seems they just ran into each other.  Not really, but with one day of crossing paths, Useppans have got to get together for at least one drink and a bit of food!

Don't forget...the Ligibels are #1 on the Useppa Mooch March List for 2013.  Donna is certainly building up a deficit.  It's the Anderson's for 2014.

Useppa's Youngest Meet Our New Fire Fighters, Chief Frank Stokes, EMT/"Chiefette" Laura Stokes and, the star of the day....

JUNIOR FIRE FIGHTER, BRADY STOKES, who took over and demonstrated how to properly hold and operate the Fire Hose.....

....and proceeded to give lessons, the smallest wanna-be Fire Fighter, first.

And, then....Brady helped the girls!  His smile was something else!

It was a fun day.  All the equipment was on full display...and could even be TOUCHED.

JUST LOOK AT ALL THIS STUFF!!!!!

OUR FIRE FLEET, READY TO ROLL....

ANYONE WANT TO RIDE THE BIG FIRE TRUCK?!?!?

Are you kidding me???  A truck ride for all kids in attendance capped the afternoon.  (Sorry we missed that picture....had to show a house!) The Fire Chief said he was sure that he had more fun than all the kids....other than his Junior Fire Fighter, anyway.  Thanks, Grady!!  Thanks Chief and "Chiefette" Stokes, for a fantastic afternoon!

Please...leave a comment.  Add or send your summer stories and don't forget to check out our web page www.UseppaIslandHome.com

Our new Fire Fighter Family has just arrived...sans furniture.  But, no one is worried!

LAURA STOKES, PA, EMT , USEPPA ISLAND VOLUNTEER FIRE COMPANY

FRANK STOKES, FIRE CHIEF, USEPPA ISLAND VOLUNTEER FIRE COMPANY

BRADY STOKES, JUNIOR FIRE FIGHTER, USEPPA VOLUNTEER FIRE COMPANY

Met at the Marina by Acting Fire Chief Rosy and Fire Fighter Randy, the Stokes arrived on
May 28th to take residence on Useppa Island and to become our official "protectors".  They come to us from  Anne Arundel County, Maryland, moving, lock, stock and barrel, to what they term, their "dream job".  They are currently "camping out" in the few pieces of furniture left at the Fire House and are excitedly going about the process of digging in. If here on the Island, stop in and introduce yourself, putting a face with a name.  They are absolute professionals at their job but "learning Useppa" will take some time and help from all of us.  Remember your first time here?????  Let's make it easy for them...even by email.  Drop a note to FAS325@me.com.  The phone number for the Fire House has not changed.
Memorial Day.....

It was great!!  A little less wild....a lot more fun!  Great food!  The pool was not overcrowded, the band was really good and the crowd appreciated it all.  Flags were everywhere and, it seemed, most everyone wore some combo of red, white and blue.
And, Shane Swigert ran a 10K in Colorado....one of 48,000!  And, she finished 18th of 39 in her age group and was all smiles, at the end. She says that without her daughter Brett and a couple bottles of Chardonnay, it never would have happened.   Question....are we ever going to see Paul run??

                                                       Now....aren't they the cutest?!?!?

The Wake Up Call....

Sorry....another 10 days has passed.  I hope someone out there has missed these commentaries.

Well...one more gone.  The Newbolds.  We were not able to conch them off at their given departure time...working these days and needed to leave early.  Soooo....Brian, with Bill's help, became Carol's alarm clock.  Bill positioned Brian at the base of the stairwell (great acoustics)....

....and Brian let go with his ever-so-animal sounding bellowing...or baying....or hooting....whatever...to which Carol immediately arose. It was still dark.  She told us it was really early....her alarm was not set to go off till 7:00 AM.   She was, however, all smiles.

We were glad no one else was around to disturb at that hour...and sad to see the Newbolds leave
.......till next season.
